16+ Choosing a Course

Looking for a Course

Ask your Personal Adviser what courses are available in your local area

Which School/College?

If your school does not have a sixth form or doesn't offer the course you want, you may have to change.

If this is the case, DO YOUR RESEARCH:

Start by checking out your area's local online prospectus to see who offers your course locally :

  • Go to open days
  • Get hold of sixth form and college course guides - usually called prospectuses
  • Talk to staff and students
  • Work out how you'll get there and how much it will cost
  • Think about the type of teaching/tutor method - is it right for you?
  • Talk to your Personal Adviser

Consortium schools and colleges

Some schools and colleges work together as a 'consortium'. This means that they can offer you a wider range of courses including the new Diplomas and a wider range of A levels. You might go to a different college campus/school to do a particular subject.
