Connexions Programmes

Connexions Black Country offers two programmes that help young people use their free time in a positive way. The programmes also help them to build up their skills so they can find good places in education, employment and work-based learning.

These programmes are available by referral only, which means that there are conditions for getting a place on them. If you would like more information, speak to a Personal Adviser

PAYP - Positive Activities For Young People

PAYP is a national Government programme for young people aged 8-19. It offers arts, sports, cultural and educational activities after school and during school holidays.

  • In the Black Country, it is run by Connexions, with lots of other agencies
  • PAYP can offer lots of different activities, such as mountain biking, archery, music recording sessions, dance and drama, and many more
  • There are also outward bounds residentials during holidays, and projects such as go-kart building, racing, and cultural groups
  • Activities can lead to accreditation, which can count towards qualifications
  • The programme also helps young people with education and employment issues

PAYP activities are planned with young people to meet their needs and interests. The activities can help with things like self-discipline, self-respect and confidence building, helping to channel energy, skills and potential in a positive way.
