If you are homeless or about to become homeless, contact your local council to find out how they can help you. ![]() If you are homeless or have been threatened with eviction you may have legal rights to stay in, or return to your home. You may also be entitled to emergency or temporary accomodation from the council's housing department and/or help from social services. In some cases, some people will also be considered in 'priority need' if they have been in prison, remanded in custody or committed for contempt of court. If you are not entitled to help from the council and want information on your housing options, see Shelter's free guide 'Finding a place to live'.
